Last month, a Standard Range BYD ATTO 3 electric car was involved in an accident that caused damage to the vehicle and its battery located beneath it. The left rear wheel also exploded. The owner of the car reported the incident to their insurance company to make a claim for the damages, and the BYD service center quoted a repair cost of 1,167,571 THB ($33,729.63 USD), including a 7% VAT.
However, the car’s insurance policy only covered damages up to 1 million THB ($28,863.22 USD), leaving the owner with a significant portion of the repair cost to pay out of pocket. The high cost of the repairs was mainly due to the battery replacement, which amounted to 896,190 THB ($25,918.48 USD).
