Gun Control in U.S.

Introduction

I’m interested in gun Laws because I got car jack when I first came to Dallas for two months. The robber pointed the gun on my shoulder and asked for the car’s key in front of my place.

My first car in U.S. in 2016 ,I shoot this photo one day before incident.

Actually, I had to ask him to speak twice because I’m literally new to U.S., so my communication in English was really bad. The robber asked me to leave after he got car’s key three times, but I stood still because I didn’t understand what he said.

The video that I put on the car nearby to record when the burglary drove my car away.

Therefore, he fired his gun cross my head(that really close), so I started to run away. At that time, I realized that it was a real gun. The police came into my house(the incident happend at my place) within 5 minutes, and they told me that 911 recieved more than 25 calls at the time that I got (missed) shot.

I stood behind the police car and pointed at the bullet’s shell that burglary shot on me. (he missed)
I pointed at the bullet’s shell that burglary shot on me. (and missed)
Marco(local police) and I stood at the crime scene(in front of my place) in 2016.

In addition, if I have a chance to say anything about the law, so it might be a gun control in U.S.

I wrote this story in Thai language as well. If you are interest in my story. Please, feel free to visit this website ( pantip.com : I already put my article’s post in this link)

From 2005 through 2008, 23 states have enacted “castle doctrine” laws The State of Texas enacted its castle doctrine law ,that gives a homeowner the legal right to use force to defend themselves against intruders, on September 1, 2007, and the subsequent Joe Horn shooting incident in Houston in November, 2007, served to publicize the Texas law to a great extent. Both residential and business burglaries were reduced significantly after the shooting incident in Houston.

Gun-control laws reduce crime

There is some evidence suggesting that the laws increased robbery offenses in rural counties. According to data from criminal offenses from the Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR), the laws on crimes reduce property crimes, robbery offenses, but increase murder offenses within urban-core counties after accounting for heterogeneity based on population density.

Nearly 40,000 people in the U.S. die from firearm-related causes annually, work-related homicides account for about 10% of all workplace fatalities. Christopher’s analysis shows that stronger gun-control policies, such as background checks, concealed carry permitting and domestic violence, may be an effective means of reducing work-related homicide.
