Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y: 2,000 Units Arrive in Thailand, Ready to Hit the Road

Tesla has arrived at the Laem Chabang Port in Thailand on January 20th, 2022. The shipment includes around 2,000 Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y vehicles, which were manufactured at the Gigafactory Shanghai in China.

The cars will be distributed to the first Tesla store in Thailand, The Paseo รามคำแหง(Ram Khamhaeng). However, it is mentioned that these Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y that arrive to Thailand still come with USS (Ultra Sonic Sensors).

As for the prices, the Tesla Model 3 is available in three different variants:

  • Performance: 2,309,000 baht, which is approximately 74,858.95 US dollars
  • Long Range: 1,999,000 baht, which is approximately 65,928.38 US dollars
  • Rear-Wheel Drive: 1,759,000 baht, which is approximately 58,240.25 US dollars

The Tesla Model Y is available in three different variants:

  • Performance: 2,509,000 baht, which is approximately 81,937.38 US dollars
  • Long Range: 2,259,000 baht, which is approximately 74,858.95 US dollars
  • Rear-Wheel Drive: 1,959,000 baht, which is approximately 64,528.25 US dollars

Tesla announced the official prices for both models and they will come with a 4-year warranty or 80,000 km (whichever comes first) as well as a battery and drivetrain warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km for the Rear-Wheel Drive model and 192,000 km for the Long Range and Performance models. There are more than 9,000 reservations in Thailand already. It will take time for two months to fill up all the reservation since December 2022, this first lot is expected that the delivery will take place between January and April of 2023.

Additionally, the Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) package is available for an additional cost of 122,000 baht, or approximately 4,012.12 US dollars and the Full Self-Driving (FSD) package is available for an additional cost of 244,000 baht, or approximately 8,024.25 US dollars.

In conclusion, Tesla’s arrival to Thailand brings a new range of electric vehicles options to the market with a competitive price compare to other countries. This is a big step for Thailand’s transition to sustainable energy.
